Launch of the Rom Landau Project Website
The BMS is pleased to have made a contribution to the Rom Landau Project, run by BMS member David Denison, through the assistance of our representatives in Marrakech Ahmed Nait and Ali Kasmi.
In 1956 Rom Landau was made Commander of the Royal Moroccan Order Ouissam Alaouite, the year Morocco regained its independence. He was the first British citizen to be awarded this honour. Rom Landau went on to write many books and press articles about Morocco, was the Area Study Director in 1962 preparing the first US Peace Corps team of volunteers to visit Morocco, lectured about Morocco extensively in the USA and in his retirement years in Marrakech made weekly radio broadcasts.
David has been leading the Rom Landau project as a commemoration of Rom’s life. You can read more about Rom and his life at the project website.
