‘PAINTINGS OF MOROCCO’ by Pat Castle Exhibition

Hackney Showroom is hosting a new exhibition by local artist and BMS member Pat Castle, ‘Paintings of Morocco’. The exhibition is a unique record of the many visits Pat has paid to the country, inspired by Moorish history and Islamic culture. Pat first visited the country in the 1990’s and describes Morocco as ‘love at first sight’ – entranced by the colours, sounds, food and environment – sensorial elements that she strives to convey in her work.

Pat is currently aged 94 and lives in Hackney, London. She works with both oils and mixed media on paper; varying between representational and near abstraction.

Pat previously studied Fine Art at Camberwell School of Arts. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows including the Royal Society of British Artists, Society of Women Artists, Royal Society of Marine Artists, Welcome Foundation, Lloyds of London, Southwark Festival, Canterbury Festival and British Moroccan Society.
